Cardi B menjadi nomine dengan kategori terbanyak, 21 kali dari 18 nominasi. Spesial bagi Drake, ia mencatat sejarah dengan menjadi artis yang paling banyak menang di Billboard Music Awards (BBMA). Ia membawa pulang 12 piala, menggenapi koleksinya menjadi 27.
Penampilan Taylor Swift disebut amat ditunggu. Untuk pertama kalinya, ia menyanyikan secara langsung single kolaborasi bersama vokalis Panic At The Disco, Brendon Urie bertajuk 'ME!" yang baru saja dirilis akhir pekan lalu. Jonas Brothers yang sempat vakum satu dekade lebih pun menggenapi janji kembali bermusik dengan tampil di panggung.
Selain itu, BTS muncul untuk kedua kalinya di BBMA. Untuk kedua kalinya, mereka menang di nominasi Top Social Artist. Boyband Korsel yang sedang jadi pembicaraan di AS dan Eropa tersebut juga berhasil di nominasi Top Duo/Group, mengalahkan Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Panic At The Disco dan Dan + Shay.
